Marina Trisic (BA) is the founder of Soma Yoga Arnhem based in the Netherlands. She is a certified yoga teacher at the Iyengar Institute in Amsterdam and a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist (RSMT) at ISMETA in the USA. Her background in bodywork and various dance and movement disciplines have greatly influenced her understanding and the way she teaches yoga. With more than 15 years of experience, she facilitates yoga classes that integrate the conscious use of breathing and somatic bodywork. The integration of somatic movement into her yoga classes helps to create deeper layers of perception and consciousness. She offers semi-private and private Soma Yoga classes in her studio and online, personalized mini-retreats, as well as Holistic Intuitive and Hot Stone massages.
The primary focus of my work is centered around deep relaxation, conscious natural breath, and releasing of the tensions in the body and mind. In my view, these are necessary but forgotten priorities of modern living. The pace of Soma Yoga is slow. This offers the opportunity to develop body awareness and thus learn to recognize and release deep-seated tensions in the body. Gentle, slow, conscious movement is an essential part of Soma Yoga classes. By moving the body consciously and using the so-called 'Somatic Movement' approach, we can dive deeper into any yoga posture. In addition, Soma Yoga practice includes gentle and restorative yoga postures. This yoga practice promotes precision, thereby helping to develop a sense of 'being centered' and moving effortlessly and with ease.
